Two new published papers!

We are thrilled to announce that two papers by our researchers have been accepted for publication in Energy Economics and the Review of Economic Studies!

Giovanna Marcolongo and Diego Zambiasi’s (Newcastle University) paper “Offshore finance and corruption in oil licensing” was published in September’s issue of Energy Economics. They exploit data from the Offshore Leaks Database the show how the awarding of exploration licenses for oil and gas increases the risk of corruption.

Paolo Pinotti, Diogo Britto, Sonia R. Bhalotra (IZA Institute of Labor Economics), and Breno Sampaio (Universidade Federal de Pernambuco), have had their paper, “Job Displacement, Unemployment Benefits, and Domestic Violence,” accepted to the upcoming issue of the Review of Economic Studies. They use Brazilian data to find that male and female job loss lead to increases in domestic violence, though some welfare programs may mitigate this effect.
