New Visiting Phd Student: Magdalena Dominguez Perez
Magdalena is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Barcelona School of Economics. She is also a pre-doctoral researcher at the Institut d’Economia de Barcelona, where she is part of the Public Policies Research Program. She will be visiting CLEAN in the 2020 Spring semester.
Her research interests are broadly related to issues such as public economics, the economics of crime, and policy evaluation. Her research has focused on the evaluation of traditional and non-traditional approaches to tackle crime, particularly in urban settings. She also analyses how social interactions shape criminal outcomes and how these insights can lead to better policy design. During her stay at CLEAN Magdalena will study the implementation of a tough-on-crime policy addressed at dismantling youth urban criminal groups, and how it compares to a potential strategy of targeting key players.
