Paolo Pinotti is Endowed Chair in the Economic Analysis of Crime in the Department of Social and Political Sciences at Bocconi University, Scientific Director of CLEAN, and Coordinator of Fondazione Rodolfo Debenedetti. He received his Ph. D in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in 2009 and worked at the research department of the Bank of Italy between 2007 and 2011. He is mainly interested in organized crime, immigration, political economy, and labor economics. He has published several articles on these topics in leading economics journals including the American Economic Review, Econometrica, and Review of Economic Studies. He was awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant for the project “Clean Evidence on Dirty Deeds” in 2019, and the AEJ: Applied Economics Best Paper Prize by the American Economic Association in 2015.
