28/07/2022

The CLEAN Research Center has been awarded a grant (275,120 euros) from the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR) in partnership with Cineca under the FARE: Framework per l’attrazione ed il rafforzamento delle eccellenze per la Ricerca in Italia program, for the project: "CRACKCRIME: Criminal Groups, Corruption, and Government Crackdowns", which has Paolo Pinotti* as principal investigator.

The current project will build upon a previous ERC-funded project by extending the analysis to Latin America, which hosts some of the World’s largest and most powerful criminal organizations. It will assess the effectiveness of different types of anti-crime policies and some of their unintended consequences, as well as expand the range of methodologies to the estimation of structural models allowing for counterfactual policy simulations.
